About Me

Welcome to my home page. I became a ham in 1997 and was active for several years in Missouri. I now live in Denver, Colorado. I am an Extra Class operator and a volunteer examiner with the ARRL.  I also Elmer for the BARCJrs a ham radio club for some pretty cool kids.

Since I moved into my house, I have spent many hours working on how to make my setup unseen. Part of this is due to my HOA rules and Regs force me to use stealth installs. Another reason is that I like the fact that I can get away with no one knowing what I have in my house. Not to mention the XYL (aka KC0YMA) is not a big fan of big antennas and wires running everywhere. If it was totally up to me I would have a tower in the backyard of my lot.

Currently I have three radios running in the shack.

I have two 2 meter rigs running. I have a Kenwood TM-201B running on 2 meter packet. This rig is hooked to a PAKRATT 232MBX TNC and a old Compaq Armada laptop running DOS and Pc PAKRATT II v. 5.5A. The antenna is a mag-mount 5/8 wave on the roof stuck to a vent stack. Next up I have a Yaesu FT-7100 for 2m/440 voice. This radio is hooked to a Ventenna also on the roof.

On HF I am running a Yaesu FT-857. For my digital interface I am using a Rascal GLX. The antenna for this is a homemade HOA approved Flagpole hiding a Hy-gain 14 AVQ vertical in the front yard.

I am also very much addicted to riding on two wheels.  Please visit my motorcyle page to learn more.
